Urban Walking: Discover the Unfamiliar in Familiar Places

Last weekend, I walked aimlessly around the city for two hours.

No navigation, no plan—just walking forward on a path I've never taken. Passed by a shoe repair shop that's been open for twenty years; the owner sat in the doorway soaking up the sun, an old radio playing classic tunes beside him. Strolled past an old wall covered in vines, sunlight filtering through the leaves to cast dappled shadows.

We walk the same streets every day but rarely truly "see" them. Commuting while glued to our phones, working through our walks—cities become mere corridors from point A to B, not spaces to explore.

This walk made me realize that the distance between familiarity and novelty is just a decision to slow down. When you stop rushing, the path becomes the scenery.

Later, I developed a habit: at least once a week, I go for a walk without any destination. No photos, no social media posts—just walking. It's the quietest conversation I have with this city.
